Seminar on Insurance Needs and Requirements for Day to Day Life - FY 2012-13
Sanchayan Society has organised a one day seminar on “Policyholder education & awareness” in Ranchi on 26th February, 2013. The seminar was attended by representatives of NGOs and pre-dominantly women members of Self Help Groups from various districts of Jharkhand. After the Welcome Noteby the Mr. Avik Kedia of M/s. Sanchayan Society, the inaugural address was given by Chief Guest Dr. Hemlata S Mohan, Chairperson and State Commission for Women, Government of Jharkhand. It was followed by a keynote address by Mrs. KGPL Rama Devi, Deputy Director IRDA highlighting theinsurance requirements in day to day life for women.
There are five technical sessions. The first 3 sessions, Session 1: Insurance needs for day-to-day life focussing on the household & shopkeeper package policy; Session 2: Covers available in health insurance including personal accident cover and Session 3: Dos & Don’ts (choosing the right policy) were addressed by Mr. Avik Kedia, Mr. Saurabh Kumar and Mr. Arun Kumar respectively. The various initiatives taken by IRDA were elaborated by Mrs. KGPL Ramadevi, Dy Director from IRDA during the post-lunch session focussing on Policyholder protection measures initiated by IRDA. The last session of Mrs. Debyani from Bharati AXA General Insurance focussed on the Basics of Motor Insurance – a need of every common man and it was reiterated that driving a vehicle without having insurance is a violation of law.Around 80- 100 participants attended the seminar and majority of them have noted down the details of the IRDA Grievance call centre no. 155255 paying attention to the grievance redress procedures very carefully. Some of the NGO participants also want IRDA to come to their areas for conducting similar awareness campaigns.
