Press Release NCFE-NFLAT 2016-17 for School Students

National Centre for Financial Education (NCFE) invites all school students from classes VI to X to participate in the National Financial Literacy Assessment Test (NCFE-NFLAT 2016-17) being conducted through Online (Within the School with adequate IT Infrastructure and internet connectivity) and Offline (Pen and Paper within the school) mode for school students of class 6th to 10th standard. The test shall be conducted in two categories i.e. NFLAT Junior (Class 6th to 8th Standard) and NFLAT (Class 9th and 10th Standard).

National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) has been identified as the nodal agency for the implementation of the National Strategy for Financial Education. In this regard, NISM has set up National Centre for Financial Education (NCFE) with the support of all the financial sector regulators in India:  Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) and Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), to further the cause of financial literacy and inclusion in India in a collaborative manner.  

NCFE’s National Financial Literacy Assessment Test (NCFE-NFLAT) is one such step in this direction. By conducting a national level test, NCFE plans to motivate school students (of classes VI to X) to learn the concepts of finance and also measure their financial awareness so that they inculcate an important life skills at an early age leading to sound financial decisions later. 

Registrations have started from 15th October, 2016. The school has to register themselves online. Subsequent to the school registration, student’s registration shall be done by the respective schools. School shall be provided with the option of choosing online /offline test mode. The school has to invigilate the online/offline test for their own students and any assistance required for the online/offline test shall be provided by NCFE/NISM Team.

* Online exam shall be conducted at the respective schools having adequate IT Infrastructure and internet connectivity.

** Offline test would be conducted at the respective school through Pen & Paper mode.

Awards

National School Winners (Top 3 Schools) shall be awarded with cash reward of Rs. 35,000/- each and a Shield and the National Winner Students (Pair 1+1) of the schools shall be felicitated with Certificates, Medals & Laptops.

Regional School Winners (Top 3 Schools in each Zone) shall be awarded with cash reward of Rs. 25,000 each and Shield and the Regional Winner Students (Pair 1+1) shall be felicitated with Certificates, Medals & Tablets/Kindles

The duration of the NFLAT and NFLAT Jr. Test shall be 60 minutes and contains 75 and 50 questions respectively.  The test will be conducted in both English & Hindi only. Syllabus details available on the NCFE website
