IRDA’s Insurance Awareness Campaign against spurious calls
Members of general public have been receiving numerous spurious calls in the name of officials of Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) with fictitious and fraudulent offers. In an attempt to caution the public against falling prey to such spurious callers, IRDA has stepped up its efforts to educate the general public by issuing advertisements, public notice and press release through both print and electronic media.
IRDA has already placed the Public Notice as well Press Release on the website of IRDA (www.irda.gov.in) as well as on the IRDA’s Consumer Education Website (www.policyholder.gov.in).
In addition to this, IRDA has issued an advertisement in English, Hindi and 11 local languages to educate the people about right buying.
Now, IRDA’s campaign is also being broadcast as radio jingles on the follow-up programme of ‘Satyamev Jayate’, over All India Radio which would go for the next 4 weeks. The message of the radio jingle is “to inform the public that IRDA does not involve directly or indirectly in sale of any insurance product and that IRDA does not declare any bonus for the policyholders”.
